Richie Kennedy scored twice to spark a 30-16 Littlefork/Big Falls football playoff win over Cook, and a berth in the section finals. Also scoring for the Vikings were Jace Junker and Gage Klemetson. “We got off to a quick start, and hung in there when they rallied late in the game,” said Coach Derek Bilben.

Two International Falls students are among those taking part in the Bemidji State University student teaching program this fall. Cody Christensen, a senior elementary education major, is teaching third grade at Littlefork Elementary School and Stephanie Maruk, junior, elementary education, is teaching fifth grade at Central Elementary School in Bemidji.

Lodging receipts in International Falls were down 5.8 percent in 1980, according to the state Tourism Division. The city ranked 12th statewide in lodging sales, totaling $2,957,000, down from $3,139,000 in 1979… Vivian Dee Ewing, formerly of International Falls, is shown modeling an original dress by a Canadian designer, Carolyn Sandstrom. Ewing has been the personal model of the Sandstrom collection for the past year… Shirley Olson, formerly of International Falls, has been promoted from administrative assistant to assistant vice president at the First Mid-American State Bank in Coon Rapids. Larson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Larson of West Falls Estates.

Nearly 4,000 Halloween Honor pledges will have been distributed to students in grade school and junior high in District 361 schools and St. Thomas School. Students who sign the pledge promise to take no part in tricks or pranks that could injure somebody, cause property damage or cause trouble of any kind for their fellow citizens. At Backus Junior High, where 400 pledges were distributed, only three came back unsigned. St. Thomas School Principal Sister Richards anticipates nearly 100 percent cooperation from the 660 students who have received their pledges.

Miss Louise Anderson of the Falls was re-elected second vice president of the Minnesota Hair Dressers and Cosmetologists association at their convention in Minneapolis. Pauline Biondich, Mrs. James Hazen and Miss Susan Anderson, all of the Falls, are also attending the state beauty meeting.

Big Falls News by R. Richards: Game Wardens Charles Roach of Big Fork and Ray Wilkes of Federal Dam spent Wednesday in town. Mrs. Nordean Rysavy who teaches school in Itasca County is spending two weeks at her home here. Word has just been received that Nordean Rysavy was released from army service Oct. 15. He is now employed in California. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Richards drove to Pine River Saturday where they attended funeral services for Game Warden Harry Knowles who died Thursday.
